I have lived in the local area for 50 plus years, during this time I have been previously involved in Local Schools as a School Governor, Taverham Scouts, and I have supported other local community groups assisting with grants and other dealings with Local Authorities.

I have been a Councillor and Member for Taverham on Broadland District Council since 1999, and was formally the longest serving Portfolio Holder for Economic Development in Norfolk, responsible for the most successful Economy in Norfolk.

I have also been one of the leading members in the reform of BDC into a highly successful business like local authority, with a mantra of a “can do” culture,throughout the organisation.

I have been the Divisional County Councillor for Taverham/Thorpe Marriott since 2009, and was formally the Chairman of Economic Development Sub- Committee, and are currently Member Champion for Apprenticeships was formally, a Director of Hethel Innovation Centre, and Chairman of Scotow Enterprise Park (former RAF Coltishall) members working group. A Board Member of Local Enterprise Partnership Transport Board., and a member of the LEP Skills Board.

I take my responsibilities very seriously and am totally committed to work with the Leadership Team of NCC to reform and improve NCC performance in all operational areas, and make the organisation more accountable to residents and business of Norfolk, focusing on the reduction of process and procedures, and enhancing FRONT LINE service delivery.

On a personal note I live with my Partner Sandra and our little dog Ralph, enjoying family life. I love gardening, walking, holidays, current affairs, politics, meals out and solving problems and assisting residents in there dealings with local authorities.

By profession, Education, and training I am a manager, Fellow Chartered Management Institute, Fellow Institute Leadership and Management,Member City & Guilds London Institute.

My Local Priorities are.

First and foremost to represent residents and NOT the Local Authorities.
1) To serve ALL residents of Thorpe Marriott/Taverham as an effective and hard working Councillor.
2) To support residents and local businesses in there dealings with BDC and NCC.I represent YOU not the Council.
3) To support older people.to help them get the right service and assistance you deserve.
4) To assist local schools,in ensuring children in Taverham get the best possible education and opportunities,inc the promotion of most importantly Apprenticeships in THS.
5) Work tirelessly to push the Western Link(the missing part of the NDR,joining the A1067 to the A47) this is essential to reduce congestion and improve air quality and the environment in our area.
6) Fight inappropriate housing development (specifically in the Wensum Valley),and ensure any other large scale potential development proposals are accompanied by specific gains for EXISTING members of our community. I
7) To work with other like minded people to ensure Taverham/Thorpe Marriott remains a clean,low crime and desirable place to live.
8) To support local small and medium size businesses to expand and succeed with the HELP of public bodies,support for Norwich Airport in increasing DAY TIME routes to holiday destinations.
9) Reduce bureaucracy and red tape which stifle enterprise and target Council monies and resources at quality responsive FRONT LINE service delivery,keeping Council tax low.
10) Assist local organisations in obtaining any available grants or funding.

To finish, I am a firm believer in rights must be accompanied by responsibilities, abdicate your responsibilities and an individual loses there rights.
